GITEX 2013 : Tejuri advocates e-commerce

ICTPRESS Report: GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK2013

Online mall Tejuri.com has joined the Department of Economic Development (DED) to educate GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2013 delegates on the benefits of e-commerce.

Tejuri.com was conceptualised and built by Tejari Group, which is a Dubai World company. Endorsed by the DED, the virtual retail platform offers products and services from a wide range of UAE retailers, giving shoppers the ability to explore all available choices in one location.

The idea of an online mall was first discussed within the Tejari Group in 2010, after a decade of success in running B2B e-commerce platforms.
“As the world was feeling the recession, so was the Dubai retail industry,” says Ayaz Maqbool, Managing Director, Tejuri.com.  “As Tejari was built for the betterment of the digital economy, what else could we do to improve [the economy further] as well as help Dubai retailers to embrace e-commerce?”

After only five months in operation, the portal operates 100 stores. Maqbool says merchants have been attracted by the considerably lower capital investment and wide customer base compared with a bricks-and-mortar mall. Credit card merchant accounts are held by Tejuri.com, saving the need for lengthy registration processes. Companies can have a fully inventoried, branded presence on the portal within weeks.

Tejuri.com also provides 24-hour customer service for shoppers and technical support for retailers, as well as transit insurance and delivery services. All Tejuri retailers are DED-registered and comply with Ministry of Economy-issued guidelines.
